Our Goals

  1. To acquire the historic Mayne Street premises, The Greatest Wonder of the World and American Tobacco Warehouse & Fancy Goods Emporium.
  2. To conserve and enhance these two buildings which are pivotal to the community and the streetscape and which are a critical heritage element linking our past, present and future
  3. To establish a reputable and attractive facility for the community.
  4. The develop a technology focused museum, based on photographs of Gulgong from the world renowned Holtermann Collection, which details the early history of the town.
  5. To provide an additional tourist facility and educational resource that complements the diverse history and heritage promotions of the Gulgong Pioneers’ Museum, the Henry Lawson Centre of NSW, the Prince of Wales Opera House, Red Hill Environmental Educational Centre and the Red Hill Mining Precinct.
  6. To develop a range of publications and teaching/learning materials that will enhance visits to the museum for adults and students alike.
  7. To develop a state of the art facility that will be driven by the community and developed with strong corporate support, government grants and local trades, infrastructure and investment.
  8. To develop a facility that is established with quality governance and a strong business plan with a sound long-term ability to be self-funding and with employment opportunities.
  9. To provide technology support to associated community organisations.
  10. To develop a project that always reflects the passion, the community interests and original initiative of the instigating committee members and which, through its mission and goals, continues to promote Gulgong and its rich heritage.
